The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Advocates Association (AAI) has officially ended the internal division that previously affected the organization. Through a Joint Extraordinary National Congress (Munaslub) held at Menara Peninsula Hotel, West Jakarta, on Saturday (4/7), all elements of AAI agreed to merge back into a single, unified organization.
This Extraordinary National Congress marks a turning point for the leadership dualism that had existed between the factions led by Ranto Simanjuntak and Arman Hanis. Ranto Simanjuntak stated that this momentum represents a collective consciousness to heal past polarizations in order to restore AAI's dignity as a dignified and harmonious platform for advocates' service.
Echoing Ranto's sentiment, Arman Hanis emphasized that this unity is a strategic step toward building an organizational foundation that is more adaptive to modern legal challenges. According to him, this unified vision serves as the main driving force to enhance members' professionalism while making a significant contribution to fair law enforcement in the country.
In addition to serving as a stage for reconciliation, this congress also provided a forum to discuss strategic organizational agendas. The discussions focused on presenting accountability reports from each leadership faction and revising the organization's articles of association to make internal governance more responsive to contemporary needs. Moving forward, AAI is committed to becoming a more inclusive organization by embracing young advocates and strengthening competency standards through continuous legal education.
