The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is currently working to accelerate the construction of the Public School (Sekolah Rakyat) facilities located in Sakurjaya Village, Ujung Jaya District, Sumedang Regency, West Java. This strategic project is targeted for full completion so that it can be immediately used by students in the 2026/2027 Academic Year.
One of the tactical steps implemented to meet the deadline is the use of the innovative 'stick on wall' method. This technique is applied during the building's finishing stage, which has been proven to significantly reduce the time required for wall plastering and skimming compared to conventional methods.
The Head of the West Java Strategic Infrastructure Working Unit (Satker), Tomi Hendratno, emphasized that in addition to implementing this technology, the contractor has also increased the workforce. As of late June 2026, construction progress on the 7.3-hectare site has reached 87.39 percent, supported by 820 workers intensively deployed in the field.
To ensure that the teaching and learning process is not disrupted during the final stages of completion, the contractor is implementing strict zoning between completed building areas and construction zones. A number of key facilities, such as the school building, multipurpose hall, kitchen, and canteen facilities, are confirmed to be completed and ready for operation.
Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, stressed the importance of maintaining the quality of educational infrastructure to meet established standards. The ministry also expressed appreciation to the Sumedang Regency Government for its support in land acquisition and the planned integration of local wisdom-based designs on the school's main gate, despite the project experiencing technical challenges related to land preparation of former paddy fields and access to clean water.
