The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported an increase in volcanic activity at Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, located in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. On Tuesday (7/7/2026) afternoon, the volcano erupted again, spewing a volcanic ash column 1.4 kilometers high from the crater peak.
Acting Head of the Geological Agency, Lana Saria, confirmed that the eruption was observed at 11:37 WITA. Based on monitoring data, the ash column reached an altitude of approximately 2,984 meters above sea level. The seismic activity accompanying this eruption was recorded with a maximum amplitude of 47.3 millimeters and lasted for approximately 87 seconds.
Responding to the latest situation, the Geological Agency maintains the status of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki at Level III (Alert/Siaga). Residents, hikers, and tourists are urged not to conduct any activities within a 5-kilometer radius from the eruption center to avoid the risk of volcanic material impact.
Authorities also emphasized the importance of maintaining vigilance and calmness among residents around the location. The public is asked to always follow official directives from the local government and ignore unverifiable information regarding the volcano's condition.
