Mount Merapi, standing firmly on the border of Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, has once again shown an increase in volcanic activity on Monday (13/7/2026) morning. The pyroclastic flow phenomenon was recorded exactly at 05:09 WIB, with the slide distance of volcanic material reaching 2,000 meters from the peak.
According to technical data from the Geological Agency, this eruption had a maximum amplitude of 19.52 millimeters with the recorded duration of activity lasting 109.99 seconds. The volcanic material was observed heading towards two main sectors: southwest towards the upper reaches of the Krasak River, and south along the upper reaches of the Boyong River.
In response to these conditions, relevant authorities have issued a stern warning to the public to refrain from activities within the danger zone and along the riverbeds originating from Mount Merapi. This measure was taken as a preventive mitigation to minimize risks posed by potential follow-up flows.
The Geological Agency also urged local residents to remain calm yet vigilant, and to always comply with every official instruction and recommendation issued by the authorities to ensure collective safety amid the fluctuations in the volcano's activity.
