Commission E member of the East Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Puguh Wiji Pamungkas, reaffirmed his commitment to overseeing the development of sports infrastructure and the improvement of facilities for athletes in his region. This step was taken after he gathered aspirations from residents and the management of the Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) of Malang City during the Recess Agenda of Session Period III for the year 2026.
During the meeting, the provision of sports facilities was one of the crucial points raised by the community. Puguh revealed that Malang City currently lacks venues for several specific sports, one of which is the absence of a track or venue for roller skating. The Secretary of the PKS Faction of the East Java DPRD promised to advocate for the allocation of adequate training facilities to support the development of high-performing athletes from an early age.
In addition to the sports sector, the dialogue session also highlighted the improvement of education quality in the region. Representatives of the PSHT community conveyed the urgency of government attention toward the welfare of educators to create a more optimal teaching and learning environment in local schools.
Another crucial issue that did not escape discussion was the increasingly severe traffic congestion in Malang City. Puguh assessed that the high daily mobility contributed by workers, tourists, and the presence of around 350,000 college students requires integrated public transportation solutions. He reiterated the importance of mass transit concepts such as the "Angkot Halokes" (special school transport) initiative to reduce congestion during peak hours.
Closing his recess agenda, the legislator from the Malang Raya Electoral District appreciated all productive inputs from the residents. He assured that all community proposals and complaints would be formulated into official recommendations to be pushed forward in working meetings with the East Java Provincial Government.
