The private sector in Thanh Hoa Province is currently striving to formulate strategic steps to strengthen its role in the national economy. In the forum "Vietnam's Private Economy: Institutional Breakthroughs - Public-Private Partnerships", entrepreneurs highlighted the need to streamline administrative procedures and expand access to resources—such as credit, land, and technology—for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which account for 98% of the region's business landscape.
Vice Chairwoman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Business Association, Vu Thi Ngoc Anh, emphasized that bureaucratic hurdles and the lack of integration into large enterprise supply chains remain key obstacles. She suggested that local government facilitate partnerships between major investors and local businesses to build a more solid and efficient ecosystem capable of competing in global value chains.
In the agricultural sector, digitization challenges have taken center stage. Dr. Do Minh Thuy highlighted the lack of readiness among farmers to meet international standards, such as electronic product traceability required by European Union and Japanese markets starting in 2027. Without robust digital data systems and planting area codes, Thanh Hoa's agricultural products risk losing competitiveness.
As a solution, the implementation of a "1,000 Digital Farmers" program was proposed to improve technological literacy, alongside building smart agricultural infrastructure powered by sensors, AI, and drones. Furthermore, the potential of the carbon economy through international measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems is seen as a golden opportunity for Thanh Hoa to develop low-emission organic and circular agriculture.
Responding to these aspirations, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Le Quang Hung, affirmed the government's commitment to shift from an administrative mindset to service-oriented governance. His office promised to continually monitor regulatory improvements to foster an inclusive, transparent business environment capable of driving sustainable regional economic growth.
