The Tuban Regency Government, together with PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Tuban East Java (PHE TEJ), organized an emergency response exercise for large-scale industrial technology failures. The activity, centered at the Sambonggede Village Field in Merakurak District, aims to strengthen regional preparedness in facing potential onshore industrial disasters.
The simulation, titled Wet Drill – Command Post Exercise, involved at least 466 joint personnel. Active participants included the Disaster Emergency Response Command Unit (SKPDB), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), PHE TEJ's internal team, and Disaster Resilient Village (Destana) volunteers from areas around the company's operational sites.
Representing the Regent of Tuban, the Assistant for Economy and Development of the Tuban Regional Secretariat, Agus Wijaya, emphasized the importance of pentahelix synergy in reducing disaster risks. Based on BPBD mapping, there are 15 potential disaster threats in Tuban, including industrial technology failures, which demand well-prepared standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all relevant sectors.
The Chief Executive of the Tuban Regency BPBD, Sudarmaji, explained that this exercise focused on handling fires in PHE TEJ's operational areas. Residents from Sumber Village and Sambonggede Village were actively involved so they understand safe and rapid self-evacuation steps in the event of a real incident in the field.
This disaster mitigation cooperation is part of a partnership established between BPBD Tuban and eight local companies. Previously, a similar exercise for handling oil spills in the marine sector was also held in Palang District with PT Pertamina EP Sukowati Field in early July.
