Tangerang now has a new face in the development of outdoor sports after the Indonesian Mountaineering Sports Association (AOPGI) of Tangerang Regency was officially inaugurated. The organization, which operates under the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI), is present not just as a forum for climbing enthusiasts, but as an ecosystem that integrates aspects of education, research, and environmental conservation.
General Chairperson of AOPGI Tangerang Regency, Budi Nur Indra, emphasized that mountaineering must be understood as a character-building instrument. According to him, through organized activities, members not only hone their physical skills but also foster discipline and care for the ecosystem. He hopes that this organization can grow to become a strategic partner that provides added value to the wider community.
Similar support came from the Tangerang Regency Government. Ali Masiran, representing the Department of Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism, stated that the presence of AOPGI is in line with the region's mission to create a healthy and educated youth. The government hopes this synergy can increase community participation in character-building sports.
Echoing this, Daily Chairperson of AOPGI Tangerang Regency, Aldi, outlined the organization's strategic vision titled "Explore, Research, Serve". AOPGI is committed to establishing cross-sector collaboration with educational institutions and the academic community. This step is taken so that every outdoor exploration can be converted into useful research data while strengthening learning spaces for the younger generation.
With the formation of this management, AOPGI Tangerang Regency is ready to transform into an adaptive organization. Through sustainable programs, the organization aims to align the hobby of climbing with social responsibility, making nature an open laboratory that can contribute positively to the development of the region.
