Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, has officially become the center of attention for the nation's cycling sports world with the hosting of the 2026 BMX Racing National Championship (Kejurnas) on Saturday, July 4, 2026. This competition serves as a stage for the best BMX athletes from all corners of the provinces to compete for the national champion title.

In his speech, the General Chairman of the Central KONI, represented by Deputy Secretary-General I, Retired Major General Erdi Lumintang, expressed appreciation for the dedication of the Central Board of the Indonesian Cycling Federation (PP ICF) in organizing consistent athlete development. In addition, the full support of the Banyuwangi Regency Government under the leadership of Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani was also key to the success of this national-scale event.

This event is expected to serve as an incubator for young athletes to continue Indonesia's positive achievement trend on the world stage. This spirit is further fueled following the success of the Indonesian BMX team in sweeping various gold, silver, and bronze medals at the ASEAN BMX Racing Cup 2026 in Thailand some time ago.

Secretary-General of PP ICF, Jadi Rajagukguk, emphasized that this championship uses an objective points system to measure athlete consistency. The more actively an athlete participates in various domestic championships, the greater their opportunity to develop their quality to bring honor to the Red and White in the future.

The opening ceremony of this National Championship was symbolically performed by the Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Surono, alongside the management of Central KONI, PP ICF, and the Regent of Banyuwangi. The athletes were also encouraged to compete by upholding sportsmanship and an unyielding spirit to improve the quality of national sports achievements.
