The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Banten Province continues to strengthen mitigation measures following the Level III (Alert) status designation for Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK). Nevertheless, the local government stresses that public activities and the tourism sector along the Anyer and Carita coasts remain normal and safe.
Head of BPBD Banten, Lutfi Mujahidin, stated that the government is currently focusing on refining strategies to anticipate secondary impacts, including monitoring potential tsunamis. According to him, the public does not need to worry excessively because the early warning system is designed to provide a 'golden time' of about 40 minutes for coastal residents to evacuate if an urgent situation arises.
Inter-agency coordination, including PVMBG, BMKG, the military, police, and local governments, continues to be optimized to ensure systematic disaster management. Lutfi emphasized that evacuation policies will only be issued based on accurate technical data analysis, not just temporary panic.
On the other hand, volcano observer from PVMBG, Anggi Nuryo Saputro, reminded the public not to compare the current condition with the 2018 event. Morphologically, the volcano has undergone significant changes. Nevertheless, compliance with the safe radius of three kilometers from the active crater remains an absolute obligation for all parties.
To date, economic and tourism activities along the Banten coast show no significant decline. A number of popular destinations, such as Bandulu Beach and Pandan Beach, were observed to remain crowded with tourists vacationing peacefully, supported by massive socialization of safety procedures conducted by the government.
