Indonesia's ambitious plan to export clean energy to Singapore has entered a crucial phase. The government has officially appointed the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) as the main partner to oversee the continuity of the cross-border electricity trade project.

This strategic decision was announced directly by President Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the Indonesia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat held last week. Through this assignment, BPI Danantara will represent Indonesia's interests in managing investment and technical cooperation for electricity trading with off-takers from the neighboring country.

Under the agreed partnership scheme, BPI Danantara will collaborate with two major Singaporean energy companies, Keppel Electric and Sembcorp Utilities. Both have been positioned as off-takers that will absorb the green electricity supply from Indonesia.

This project is viewed not only as an effort to strengthen bilateral relations but also as a concrete step for Indonesia to position itself as a key player in the Southeast Asian renewable energy market. The involvement of BPI Danantara is expected to provide significant economic added value and ensure that project governance runs more efficiently and transparently.
