The Free Health Check (CKG) Program in Samarinda City has recorded positive enthusiasm from the public. As of June 2026, 28,000 residents have utilized the early health detection services spread across 26 community health centers (puskesmas) throughout the Kota Tepian area.
Head of the Samarinda City Health Office, Ismid Kusasih, explained that this program targets various age groups with specifically tailored types of examinations. All service procedures are carried out in accordance with central government standards, including data system integration through the Satu Sehat application to ensure the accuracy of participants' medical records.
Ismid emphasized that CKG is not a tool to establish a final diagnosis, but rather a preventive effort to regularly map out public health conditions. Early detection is considered crucial so that medical intervention can be provided more quickly before a disease progresses to a more serious stage.
Although the program is running smoothly, the Health Office acknowledges operational challenges, particularly regarding the limited number of medical personnel. Staff at community health centers are required to practice strict time management as they must balance screening activities with other routine service loads, such as integrated healthcare posts (posyandu) and maternity services.
In addition to human resource constraints, the fulfillment of medical logistics for blood and blood sugar tests is also a focus of the city government's attention. Ismid urged residents to cast aside fear or the notion that knowing one's medical history is undesirable, for the sake of maintaining long-term quality of life.
