Korem 064/Maulana Yusuf (MY) is strengthening preparedness measures to face potential disasters from the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau. Through intensive coordination with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) across Banten Province and the military district commands (Kodim), the TNI emphasizes the importance of targeted public education to minimize public panic.
The tactical coordination meeting took place at the Makorem 064/MY in Serang City, led by the Chief of Operations (Kasi Ops) of Korem 064/MY, Infantry Colonel Bayu Sigit Dwi Untoro, representing the Danrem. This meeting specifically formulated disaster socialization materials and developed self-evacuation simulation scenarios for affected residents.
Colonel Bayu Sigit emphasized that the dissemination of information related to this mitigation is purely aimed at improving citizens' disaster literacy. Community preparedness is considered a key factor in reducing fatality risks should the volcanic activity in the Sunda Strait escalate at any time.
During the forum, local governments were also urged to immediately finalize logistical and operational supporting data. This includes verifying evacuation routes, the availability of evacuation shelters, and collecting data on vulnerable groups such as toddlers, the elderly, and people with disabilities to ensure a more precise rescue process.
Once the socialization phase is completed, Korem 064/MY, together with relevant agencies, will hold large-scale field simulations. This exercise is expected to test the effectiveness of early warning systems, inter-agency coordination, and the readiness of Banten's coastal residents to respond to emergencies calmly.
