BOYOLALI – To anticipate the rise of unauthorized hiking activities that have the potential to damage the ecosystem, a joint cross-agency team conducted an integrated patrol on the slopes of Mount Merbabu. This monitoring activity was focused on the Dukuh Timboa area, Ngadirojo Village, Gladagsari District, Boyolali Regency.
The security operation, which took place on Wednesday (July 22, 2026), involved police personnel from the Gladagsari Sub-sector Police and Ampel Police, alongside the Mount Merbabu National Park Office (Balai TNGMb), TNI, and Manggala Agni. The team combed various unofficial routes that are often suspected to be illegal entry points for unauthorized hikers.
In addition to conducting physical sweeps from morning until afternoon, officers also engaged in dialogues with local residents. Communities living around the mountain slopes were invited to actively participate in preserving the conservation area and to report any suspicious activities. During this patrol, officers confirmed that no illegal hikers were found passing through.
Head of Public Relations for the Boyolali Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AKP) Winarsih, confirmed this preventive measure. She emphasized that inter-agency collaboration is crucial to minimize the risk of mountain accidents while protecting the natural environment of Merbabu from damage caused by unmonitored activities.
AKP Winarsih also urged nature lovers to always follow procedures by using the official hiking trails provided. This step is considered vital for the safety of the hikers themselves and for maintaining sustainable environmental preservation.
