The Mayor of Medan, Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, officially closed the 'Padel for All' sports tournament series held at 59 Padel Hub, Jalan Mongonsidi, on Sunday (12/7). The event, organized by Beyond Sport Profesional 061, is part of the celebrations for the 436th anniversary of Medan City.
In his speech, Rico emphasized that sports play a strategic role as a unifier of society, regardless of social background or profession. For him, the sportsmanship and discipline fostered on the court reflect the values needed to build an advanced and prosperous city.
"A fit body is the main asset for citizens to remain productive. We hope the positive energy from sports activities can drive Medan to become an inclusive, sustainable, and continuously developing city in the future," Rico stated before the participants.
The three-day tournament recorded high enthusiasm, involving 135 pairs of athletes, totaling 270 participants. The Chairman of Beyond Sport Profesional 061, Saif Adli Heer, expressed his appreciation for the city administration's support, which he deemed capable of bridging synergy between the younger generation and policymakers.
The closing night was also attended by members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), including the Commander of Military District 0201/Medan Lieutenant Colonel Armed Delli Yudha Adi Nurcahyo, Deputy Chief of Medan Police AKBP Rudy Silaen, and heads of relevant departments within the Medan City Government.
