Journalists in East Kalimantan now have a new venue to channel their interests and talents outside of journalistic activities. Through the formation of the PWI Kaltim Billiard Club, members of the press have begun to intensify routine practice sessions at De’Ale Billiard located in GoMall Samarinda, Jalan Bhayangkara. This step marks the beginning of structured training for the cue sport within the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) East Kalimantan.
To fully support this program, the management of De’Ale Billiard provides access to training facilities free of charge. The training program is scheduled to take place periodically twice a week, specifically every Tuesday and Friday. In addition to honing technical skills, this activity is also designed as a gathering to strengthen solidarity among journalists amidst busy reporting schedules.
The owner of De’Ale Billiard, Hendra Anggara, warmly welcomed this initiative from the oldest press organization in Indonesia. According to him, billiards is a sport that tests concentration, strategy, and discipline. Hendra hopes that the availability of these comfortable facilities can trigger the birth of potential billiard athletes from the media community who can compete at regional and national levels.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of PWI Kaltim Billiard Club, Yudi Adi Prabowo, stated that the formation of this billiard club was based on the many journalists who enjoy playing billiards but did not yet have an organized training platform. Through directed training, he is optimistic that the basic technical skills, tactics, and competitive mentality of the members can improve significantly.
Yudi also expressed deep appreciation for the concrete contribution of De’Ale Billiard management. Looking ahead, this club will not only focus on internal practice but also targets participation in friendly tournaments and official championships to bring home achievements for the press community of East Kalimantan.
