PURWAKARTA – Members of the Purwakarta Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), including the Chief of Purwakarta Police AKBP Febri Nurzam, attended the opening of the Inter-High School Men's and Women's Volleyball and Basketball Tournament across Purwakarta Regency. The competition, held at the Disporaparbud Purwakarta Sports Hall (GOR), was organized to commemorate the 51st Indorama Founder’s Day and to welcome the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
This annual sports event is participated by around 200 students divided into dozens of teams. A total of 18 men's volleyball teams and 18 women's volleyball teams are competing for a total prize of IDR 20 million. Meanwhile, for the basketball category, there are 8 men's and 8 women's teams respectively, also competing for the same total prize amount. This competition is projected to be a platform for scouting talented young athletes in the Purwakarta region.
The organizers are committed to providing further appreciation for participants who demonstrate outstanding potential. The Head of PT Indorama Purwakarta, H. Aliaman Saragih, expressed his readiness to provide a development bonus of IDR 10 million for tournament participants who manage to reach the national level. In addition, this competition also opens up scholarship opportunities at the Indorama Polytechnic of Engineering for high-achieving athletes.
The Regional Secretary of Purwakarta Regency, Ir. Sri Jaya Midan, explained that this tournament is an important part of the region's preparation for the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). Echoing this sentiment, the Head of the Region IV Branch Office (KCD) of Purwakarta, Gema Muhammad Sidhiq, urged all participants to always prioritize sportsmanship, discipline, and togetherness throughout the matches.
On the other hand, the Purwakarta Police Department expressed high appreciation for the private sector's consistency in providing positive platforms for teenagers. Through the Head of Public Relations of Purwakarta Police, IPTU Tini Yutini, the Police Chief stated that these sports activities are effective in keeping students away from juvenile delinquency. The police are committed to continuing to support multi-stakeholder synergy to realize a safe and productive environment for the growth and development of the younger generation.
