Taking advantage of the momentum of Car Free Day (CFD), the Women's Crisis Center (WCC) Palembang held a reproductive health education action at KIF Park Kambang Iwak, Palembang, on Sunday (26/7/2026). In this activity, the organization introduced an eco-friendly cloth sanitary pad innovation named Cindo-Pads as a healthy and sustainable living solution for women.
The Director of WCC Palembang, Yessy Ariyani, revealed that this socialization is a collaborative step with Rumah Berlindung Palembang. This program targets women of productive age to better understand the importance of maintaining menstrual health with methods that are safe, hygienic, and pocket-friendly. According to her, understanding Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) is crucial to protect women from various social risks, such as early marriage and gender-based violence.
Cindo-Pads cloth sanitary pads became the main attraction due to their advantage of being washable and reusable. In addition to minimizing single-use plastic waste, this product is considered highly economical. This innovation is also expected to be a solution for young girls who often face difficulties accessing commercial sanitary products due to economic constraints.
Not only promoting the product, the WCC Palembang team also educated participants on how to maintain the hygiene of reproductive organs during menstruation, the ideal frequency for changing pads, to the early detection of sexual health disorders. This educational step was intentionally designed to break taboos and myths surrounding menstruation that often make young girls feel embarrassed or reluctant to consult about their bodies.
This street action received a positive response from the surrounding community who were exercising. Fairuz, a student at the Faculty of Law, Sriwijaya University, admitted to gaining new insights into the long-term benefits of using cloth pads for bodily health and the environment. WCC Palembang hopes this movement can encourage broader synergy to realize a generation of women who are healthy, empowered, and reproductively independent.
