Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chairman of the Golkar Party Central Executive Board, called on all political party elites across the nation to demonstrate maturity and firmness in responding to national dynamics. He emphasized that the primary responsibility of political parties today is to maintain a conducive political climate by prioritizing national interests over short-term political ambitions.
Misbakhun specifically highlighted the phenomenon of ambiguous political stances, where parties tend to act inconsistently by claiming credit for successful government programs while distancing themselves when problems arise. He stressed that the practice of 'playing both sides' is seen as ungraceful and actually damages party integrity in the eyes of the public.
Furthermore, the Chairman of Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) stated that although Indonesia's constitutional system does not recognize a formal opposition, every party must have a clear position—whether aligned with the government coalition or outside it. A consistent stance is considered crucial to providing good political education to the public.
Responding to the role of criticism in a democracy, Misbakhun added that his party is not anti-criticism. However, he reminded that criticism should be constructive and offer solutions, rather than merely provoking or muddying the socio-political situation, which is currently facing global geopolitical and economic challenges.
Concluding his statement, he invited all political forces to shift toward national-interest-oriented politics. According to him, collaboration and constructive ideas from political parties will be far more effective for the nation's progress than playing the blame game, which only leads to traps of practical populist politics.
