The Governor of Central Kalimantan, Agustiar Sabran, officially opened the Kapolda Cup II Volleyball Tournament 2026, held at the Indoor Multipurpose Sports Hall (GOR Indoor Serbaguna) in Palangka Raya on Friday (3/7/2026). The championship, which will run until July 12, is an important momentum for strengthening relationships and identifying talented young athletes in the Central Kalimantan region.
In his speech, Agustiar emphasized that this event is not just a physical competition on the court. He hopes that the tournament can serve as an instrument to shape the character of a disciplined, resilient younger generation that upholds the values of sportsmanship. According to him, the spirit of healthy competition aligns with the Huma Betang philosophy, which is the foundation of unity for the people of Central Kalimantan.
"The court is a place to compete, but outside of it, we remain one big family. I want the athletes to perform at their best and show a high fighting spirit to bring honor to their regions, both at the regional and national levels," said the Governor while motivating the participants.
In addition to highlighting the importance of sustainable sports development, Governor Agustiar also provided tangible support for the local sports scene by symbolically handing over sports equipment aid to several former athletes. This step is a form of appreciation from the provincial government to maintain a healthy and solid sports ecosystem.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General of Police Iwan Kurniawan, members of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), Acting Regional Secretary Linae Victoria Aden, as well as the best volleyball coaches and athletes representing various regencies and cities in Central Kalimantan.
