Volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, located in the waters of the Sunda Strait, has reportedly increased significantly. Based on the latest data, the status of the volcano has now been raised to Level III (Alert), following fluctuating eruption patterns and the spewing of volcanic ash around the crater.
Responding to this condition, the governments of Serang and Pandeglang Regencies issued an official statement to reassure the public, particularly tourism industry players. Local authorities emphasized that the western coastal area of Banten, which includes popular destinations such as Anyer, Cinangka, and Carita, is currently safe and conducive for tourists to visit during the school holiday period.
Although the alert level has been raised, local residents' activities in the area appear to be going on as usual. However, on the other hand, several local fishermen were observed still choosing to go out to sea to meet their economic needs, despite the potential risks posed by the volcanic activity of Anak Krakatau.
