KUDUS – The Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus (UMKU) has taken concrete steps to maintain students' academic integrity in the digital era. Through a collaboration between the Commissariat Boards (PK) of IMM Ar-Rabbani and Insan Kamil, they organized an essay writing workshop titled "A Million Pens, A Million Meanings" at SMK Muhammadiyah Kudus on Saturday (6/6/2026).
This event was specifically designed to respond to the challenges posed by the increasingly pervasive use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology among academics. Students were equipped with an understanding of how to ethically utilize AI as a tool in the creative process—such as searching for ideas and structuring outlines—without sacrificing the originality of their written work.
The workshop featured Muhammad Jauhar, an academic and lecturer in the UMKU Nursing Study Program, as the keynote speaker. The event was also directly assisted by the General Chairperson of PK IMM Ar-Rabbani, Essa Wahyu Makutarama, and the General Chairperson of PK IMM Insan Kamil, Najma Kamila Wulansari.
The Event Organizing Committee Chair, Nadiva Adinda Fernanda, explained that the main goal of this workshop was to enhance students' critical, analytical, and creative thinking capacities through essays. She emphasized the importance of proper and correct writing standards so that the produced work remains structured and meaningful.
Through this initiative, the organizers hope that students' interest in literacy and their confidence in writing both academic and non-academic works will grow significantly. This step is expected to serve as a strong foundation for building a healthy and responsible academic culture within the campus environment.
