The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) has officially presented a creative initiative titled "Holiday to Kampung Main" as a solution for meaningful school holiday activities. This program is designed to combine recreational elements with education, to instill cultural values and environmental preservation in the younger generation from an early age.
Deputy for Marketing at Kemenpar, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, explained that this program is part of the ongoing efforts to promote domestic tourism through the #DiIndonesiaAja campaign. Through a play-and-learn approach, children are invited to get closer to the richness of tourist villages and local wisdom scattered throughout the country.
The main offline activities are scheduled to take place at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, from July 1 to 5, 2026. During these five days, visitors will be presented with a series of interactive workshops on various themes, ranging from gastronomy, art and design, maritime, to wellness, such as a simulation of crop processing in the "Corn Adventure".
In addition to physical activities, Kemenpar is also leveraging technology through a *digital scavenger hunt* accessible from June 22 to July 5, 2026. This online game is available at various Wonderful Indonesia Co-Branding partner destinations, such as HeHa Waterfall Bogor, Jatim Park Malang, to several shopping centers in Yogyakarta, simply by scanning the provided QR code.
Through this initiative, Kemenpar hopes that children can grow to become agents of change who love Indonesia's traditional heritage and nature. Active participation in these activities is expected to build a collective awareness that domestic travel is a choice that is not only fun, but also contributes to the development of the national tourism ecosystem.
