The Chairman of the Restaurant and Karaoke Entertainment Business Association (Asperikat) of Tegal City, Cahyo Dwi Titah, has officially announced his resignation from his organizational post. This news comes amidst a wave of public opposition to the presence of Helen’s Night Mart, a nightlife venue in the Margadana District, Tegal City.
Confirmed on Tuesday (30/6/2026), Cahyo emphasized that his decision to step down has no connection whatsoever with the controversy surrounding Helen’s Night Mart. He assured that the internal climate of Asperikat remains conducive and that no conflict triggered his resignation from the leadership position.
"I am stepping down because I have other commitments that require me to be out of town frequently; I plan to handle business in Riau in the near future. It has absolutely nothing to do with the residents' rejection or any internal association conflict," Cahyo stated.
Furthermore, Cahyo explained that there are currently 11 entertainment venues under the auspices of Asperikat that hold official operational permits. However, he highlighted regulatory hurdles regarding alcoholic beverage permits, which currently lack a legal umbrella in the form of a Regional Regulation (Perda) in Tegal City. Business owners hope that the Tegal City Government will soon draft these regulations so that local taxes and retribution potentials can be maximized.
Regarding the leadership succession at Asperikat, Cahyo stated that he fully leaves the mechanism for selecting a new chairman to the association's members. He also expressed hope that the dynamics taking place in Tegal City can be resolved through constructive dialogue to maintain regional conduciveness.
