Police officers from the Gunung Megang Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit have successfully solved the murder investigation of a laborer identified by the initials MS (35). The perpetrator, identified as S.B.Y. (57), a farmer from Hamlet III, Gunung Megang Luar Village, was apprehended in less than 48 hours after the bloody incident occurred.

The tragic event took place on Friday (3/7/2026) afternoon on a road near the football field in Hamlet VII. The victim was found dead with a fatal stab wound to the solar plexus as well as serious head injuries. Gunung Megang Sector Police Chief, Police Commissioner Assistant KMS Erwin, representing Muara Enim Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Hendri Syaputra, explained that solving this case was the result of responsive action by officers in the field.

The arrest process was conducted through a persuasive approach with the perpetrator's family. This strategy paid off when the family turned the suspect over to the authorities on Sunday (5/7/2026). During preliminary interrogation, S.B.Y. confessed to the crime, which stemmed from a personal dispute with the victim, during which the perpetrator used a keris dagger as a weapon to stab him.

In addition to arresting the suspect, investigators secured several crucial pieces of evidence, including the victim's and suspect's clothing, a motorcycle, and the keris dagger used in the attack. Currently, the suspect is being held at the Gunung Megang Sector Police Headquarters for further investigation.

The police have charged the suspect under Article 458 of the Criminal Code, subsidiary Article 466 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code, regarding the crime of murder. While completing the case file to be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office, authorities along with the village government are also committed to maintaining public security and order in the area to keep it conducive.
