Field Learning Practice (PBL) III students from the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) have recently completed a community service program in Jampu Village, Lilirilaja District, Soppeng Regency. The culmination of this activity was marked by the holding of a Final Seminar at the Jampu Village Office on Monday (6/7), as a forum for evaluation and socialization of the work program's sustainability.
Adopting the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the students sought to optimize existing local potential by actively involving community members. This collaboration included intensive coordination with the village government, health cadres, and local community leaders to ensure all programs were relevant to the needs of the residents.
The coordinator of the Jampu Village Post, Alini Amanda, emphasized that the main focus of the activity was education on waste management through the concept of a circular economy. One of the concrete actions introduced was the practice of processing organic waste into household compost, which is expected to reduce waste volume while providing added value to the environment.
In addition to the environmental sector, the student team also initiated several health interventions, ranging from education on healthy consumption patterns to strengthening Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS). This activity was complemented by joint physical activities to foster an active lifestyle culture among the village community.
Alini hopes that all the programs that have been designed will not only serve as academic requirements, but can also be independently adapted by the residents of Jampu Village. This effort is aligned with the vision of improving the quality of human resources and a healthy environment, so that the benefits can be felt in the long term.
