Students of the Master of Informatics Study Program at Nusa Mandiri University (UNM) have successfully designed a waqf website platform based on blockchain technology. This innovation is presented as a digital solution to encourage transparency, data security, and greater accountability in the management of socio-religious funds in Indonesia.
The application of the blockchain system in waqf management allows every donation transaction to be recorded permanently, in a decentralized manner, and cannot be manipulated. The system is also designed to be easily audited by the public in real-time, which is expected to minimize public doubts regarding the distribution of waqf funds.
In addition to having robust security, this digital platform is also designed to be adaptive for integration into the national digital ecosystem. This innovative step opens up opportunities for strategic collaboration with various government institutions, including the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, to modernize waqf governance nationwide.
The development of this project is in line with the curriculum direction of the UNM Master of Informatics Program, which focuses on mastering cutting-edge applied technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, data science, and cybersecurity. This learning model ensures that students' academic research can be directly applied to address real challenges in society.
UNM's Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Wawan Kurniawan, expressed his deep appreciation for the achievement. He emphasized that his institution is fully committed to continuing to facilitate applied research that can yield positive social impacts while accelerating the course of an inclusive digital transformation in Indonesia.
