Ahead of the commemoration of National Children's Day (HAN) 2026, the Indonesian Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening various priority programs that support optimal child growth and development. This strategic step is realized through expanding access to basic healthcare services, improving the quality of education, and creating a safe social environment as the main foundation for fostering an outstanding and resilient golden generation.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Menko PMK), Pratikno, emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto pays great attention to human resources (HR) development. The government is working to ensure all children, especially those from underprivileged families in the decile 1 and decile 2 groups, receive social security, education, and healthcare services without exception.
In the health sector, the government has launched various sustainable programs to build the physical resilience of future generations. These efforts include providing Free Health Checks (CKG), accelerating the construction of regional public hospitals (RSUD), increasing the ratio of specialist doctors through university- and hospital-based systems, and taking serious action against stunting, tuberculosis, and leprosy.
Meanwhile, in the education sector, the expansion of learning opportunities is accelerated through the Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) program for underprivileged children and the revitalization of school physical facilities in various regions. Classroom digitalization is also being continuously improved by distributing interactive digital whiteboards (Interactive Flat Panel/IFP). In addition, the Garuda Excellent School (Sekolah Unggul Garuda) program is prepared to recruit top talents in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and leadership.
To complete the modern education ecosystem, the government is currently targeting the construction of 100 non-boarding Integrated National Schools (SNT) that combine junior and senior high school levels, with 17 units starting operations this academic year. Lastly, child protection is strengthened through the National Movement for Safe and Comfortable Spaces for Children (Gernas RANA) to prevent violence and safeguard children's mental health in family, school, public space, and digital environments.
