The Bogor Regency Government is taking strategic steps to reorganize the Gunung Mas Rest Area in the Puncak area, Cisarua. This effort is being made to maximize the function of the rest area as a tourism hub as well as a crucial point in traffic engineering management on the often congested Puncak route.
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto revealed that the redesign includes the demolition of several shophouse units that have been obstructing the mobility of large vehicles. With a new, more open design, it is hoped that tour buses can enter and park freely within the rest area.
In addition to infrastructure improvements, the regency government plans to move the Cisarua Sector Police Headquarters (Polsek) into the rest area complex. This integration step is intended so that the coordination of the Puncak route's open-close system can be centered at the location, allowing tourist vehicles caught in traffic to be directed to rest in the available parking area.
Regarding financing, the local government is committed not to burden the regional budget (APBD). This follow-up project will be driven through a collaboration scheme between private investors and the Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) Sayaga Wisata. This creative approach was chosen so that the development of the area remains effective even without government funding.
Previously, this development step received support from PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) III. The state-owned enterprise has approved the addition of four hectares of land, supplementing the existing seven hectares, to realize a more organized and visitor-friendly Puncak tourism area.
