The Gunung Mas Regency Government officially welcomed the arrival of the Period I 2026 Regular Student Community Service (KKN) students from the University of Palangka Raya (UPR). The welcoming ceremony took place solemnly at the Hall of the Regional Development Planning, Research and Innovation Agency (Bapperida) of Gunung Mas Regency on Tuesday (14/7/2026), led directly by Regional Secretary Richard, representing the Regent of Gunung Mas, Jaya Samaya Monong.
In the Regent's written remarks read by Richard, the regional government expressed its highest appreciation to the entire academic community of UPR, including the leadership, supervising lecturers, and students. Richard emphasized that the KKN program is not merely a formality to fulfill academic requirements, but a tangible implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi) in terms of service to the wider community.
The presence of these young academics is expected to bring reciprocal positive impacts for both village communities and the regional government. The Gunung Mas Regency Government views the partnership with UPR as having strategic value for the success of regional priority programs outlined in the “Tambun Bungai Program”. Students are encouraged to get directly involved in addressing crucial issues such as accelerating the reduction of stunting rates, alleviating extreme poverty, optimizing the potential of tourist villages, recycling waste into economic value, and utilizing home gardens for family food security.
In addition to focusing on physical and social development programs, the students were also reminded to always respect the customs and local wisdom of the Gunung Mas community. On the other hand, sub-district heads, village heads, and ward heads in the placement areas were urged to guide the KKN participants with a family-like approach so that all work programs can be fully realized.
Echoing these sentiments, the Head of Bapperida of Gunung Mas Regency, Yantrio Aulia, reported that this student handover is a concrete realization of the joint agreement between the Gunung Mas Regency Government and UPR. This program is designed to synchronize academic theoretical foundations with social realities in the field, thereby facilitating integrated intervention for various development challenges at the village and ward levels.
