The Sibolga City Government is currently finalizing plans for the inaugural launch of Car Free Day (CFD), scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Centered in the Simare-mare Field area, this program is designed as a platform for sports, free health services, as well as a stimulus for the local economy through the empowerment of creative entrepreneurs.

These preparatory steps were intensively discussed in a cross-sectoral coordination meeting led by the Regional Secretary of Sibolga City, Herman Suwito, at the Nusantara II Hall of the Sibolga Mayor's Office on Friday (7/24/2026). The meeting aimed to align the roles of all relevant agencies to ensure the smooth running of the event from start to finish.

In its implementation, the Sibolga City Government is also collaborating with students conducting their Student Community Service (KKN) from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), who are currently assigned in North Sibolga and South Sibolga Districts. This synergy will bring a series of engaging activities for the public, ranging from mass aerobics, various entertainment games, a karaoke stage, to free health checks and medical treatment from the local Health Office.

In addition to focusing on physical fitness, the CFD event is being utilized to boost Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The local government, along with banking partners, is providing a special space for local business owners to sell their products. To ensure the comfort of residents who are exercising, vendor zoning regulations will be strictly enforced so that the main area of the field remains free of street vendors.

To anticipate potential traffic congestion around the event venue, the Transportation Agency is collaborating with the Traffic Unit of the Sibolga Police and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) to prepare traffic engineering schemes. The government urges all segments of society, as well as civil servants (ASN), to attend and enliven this inaugural event to promote a healthy lifestyle while supporting the local economy.
