State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga has officially carried out an institutional expansion by inaugurating the Faculty of Science and Technology (Saintek). This strategic move was taken as a concrete effort by the university to respond to the dynamics of global technological developments and enhance the competitiveness of human resources in Indonesia.

The inauguration was symbolically marked by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kamaruddin Amin, at the local campus complex on Saturday (4/7/2026). In its initial operational phase, this new faculty offers three flagship study programs, namely Data Science, Information Technology, and Library and Information Science.

In his address, Kamaruddin Amin emphasized that State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) must be able to transform into adaptive intellectual hubs. According to him, UIN Salatiga's international academic reputation, including the success of the IJIMS journal in maintaining its Q1 rank in the Scimago Journal Rank, serves as a strong foundation for the development of this new faculty.

In addition to academic achievements, a commitment to transparent governance was also a key point highlighted. UIN Salatiga was appreciated for its consistency in maintaining the Integrity Zone predicate toward a Corruption-Free Area (ZI-WBK) achieved since 2020.

On the other hand, the Rector of UIN Salatiga, Zakiyuddin Baidhawy, explained that the development of the Saintek Faculty carries the philosophy of 'Green Wasathiyah Campus'. This concept integrates the mastery of modern science with values of Islamic moderation and environmental conservation ethics as a form of moral responsibility toward the earth.

The presence of this faculty is expected not only to serve as a medium for knowledge transfer but also to function as a living laboratory that produces a superior generation that is visionary, globally minded, yet remains firmly grounded in Islamic and national values.
