On the sidelines of the INNOPROM 2026 international industrial exhibition in Ekaterinburg, Russia, the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenperin) took a strategic step by partnering with the Government of the Kirov Region. Both parties agreed to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a foundation for strengthening partnerships in trade, investment, technology transfer, and industrial supply chain reinforcement.
This commitment was reaffirmed in a bilateral meeting between the Indonesian Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and the Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region, Mikhail Anatolyevich Sandalov. As the Partner Country in the prestigious event, Indonesia leveraged it as an important momentum to deepen bilateral relations and open up broader economic opportunities.
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang emphasized that the Kirov Region is a potential manufacturing hub in Russia that can serve as a strategic partner for domestic industries. This collaboration is expected not only to expand market access for local products but also to spur technology transfer and build human resource capacity in the national industrial sector.
The agreed scope of cooperation includes facilitating relations between business players, organizational collaboration, and organizing various discussion forums such as industrial seminars and conferences. In addition, the exchange of economic data will be intensified to formulate more specific cooperation programs in the future.
Through this partnership, Indonesia has a major opportunity to export raw materials, chemical products, and manufactured components needed by industries in Kirov. The partnership is expected not only to occur at the G2G (government-to-government) level, but also to develop into real, mutually beneficial business collaborations.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Resilience, Regionalization, and International Industry Access (KPAII) at Kemenperin, Tri Supondy, stressed the importance of concrete follow-ups after the meeting. Kemenperin openly invites business actors from Kirov to visit the Indonesian Pavilion to build sustainable business networks aimed at strengthening Indonesia's position in the Eurasian region.
