KUALA TUNGKAL – The Regent of Tanjung Jabung Barat, Drs. H. Anwar Sadat, M.Ag., officially opened the Inter-Regional Government Apparatus Organization (OPD) Football Tournament titled the 2026 OPD Cup. The lively opening ceremony was held at the Bakti Karya Persitaj Stadium in Kuala Tungkal on Monday (3/8) afternoon, accompanied by the Chairperson of the District TP PKK, Hj. Fadhilah Sadat, S.H.
The stadium was packed with local officials, starting from the Regional Secretary, Heads of OPDs, sub-district heads, the Chairperson of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan, to hundreds of supporters from each agency. This tournament is designed not just as a sports competition, but as a medium to strengthen brotherhood and solidarity within the Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency Government.
In his speech, Regent Anwar Sadat emphasized the importance of building synergy and collaboration between OPDs. He stated that although competition occurs on the green field, all civil servants remain part of one unified team working together for the region's progress. The Regent also reminded everyone of the importance of maintaining health and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
According to the Regent, sports tournaments like this have strategic value in relieving burnout from daily work routines. Harmonious relationships and more fluid communication outside office hours are expected to improve work coordination, which will ultimately have a positive impact on improving the quality of public services to the community.
Furthermore, Anwar Sadat urged all players, officials, and referees to uphold the values of honesty and discipline (fair play). For him, the true victory lies in maintaining brotherhood and unity among local government apparatuses, not just the numbers on the scoreboard.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Head of the Cooperatives, SMEs, Industry, and Trade Office of West Tanjab, Sawaluddin F. Tanjung, reported that this year's tournament is participated in by 16 teams. All teams are scheduled to compete in 28 matches that will take place over the next few weeks.
The opening ceremony was marked by a ceremonial kick-off by Regent Anwar Sadat in the middle of the field, greeted by thunderous applause from the spectators. This competition is expected to foster a more dynamic and harmonious working atmosphere to realize the development vision of Tanjung Jabung Barat BERKAH Madani.
