As a rapid response to the impact of the fire at the Jatiwaringin Final Disposal Site (TPA), the Tangerang Police Department, through its Medical and Health (Dokkes) team, has opened a health service post for the community. These medical efforts have focused on residents evacuating in Jungkel Hamlet, Tanjakan Mekar Village, Rajeg District, since Friday (3/7).
Chief of Tangerang Police, Senior Commissioner Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah, explained that the services include blood pressure checks, medical consultations with general practitioners, as well as the distribution of vitamins and medicines. In addition, the police are massively distributing face masks to residents to minimize the risk of respiratory disorders due to smoke exposure covering the surrounding area.
"We are committed to being directly present to assist the community in this emergency situation to ensure health access is maintained," said Senior Commissioner Andi. He urged the public to immediately report to the nearest health facility if they experience symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, or eye irritation, as well as to limit outdoor activities.
In addition to focusing on the health sector, Tangerang Police are also maintaining regional security by conducting routine patrols in residential areas left behind by residents. This step is being carried out while maintaining intensive coordination with local government and related agencies for the management of the fire incident.
On the other hand, firefighting efforts at the Jatiwaringin Landfill have entered their fourth day with significant results, with around 30 percent of the hotspots reported to be under control. The BNPB continues to optimize two *water bombing* helicopter units and deploy 18 fire engines to complete sweeps of unreachable hotspots via both air and ground routes.
