The Jakarta DKI Provincial Government, in collaboration with the Indonesian Triathlon Federation (FTI), is preparing to host the prestigious Jakarta Triathlon 2026 on September 13. Located in the coastal tourist area of Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, this multi-sport event is specifically designed as part of the series of celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the City of Jakarta.
As a sport that combines swimming, cycling, and running, triathlon demands prime physical endurance, strategic intelligence, and high adaptability from its participants. The collaboration between the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Department (Disparekraf) and FTI is projected to continue as an annual agenda to promote an active lifestyle.
The Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta FTI Provincial Board, Michelle Elizabeth Surjaputra, explained that the Jakarta Triathlon 2026 carries a major mission to build a strong, inclusive, and sustainable multi-sport ecosystem in the country. The event is expected to bring together various sports communities while acting as an incubator for high-achieving athletes who can bring pride to the nation.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Jakarta Disparekraf, Andhika Permata, expressed his optimism regarding Jakarta's potential as a world-class sport tourism destination. Supported by modern infrastructure, integrated accessibility, and the availability of representative public spaces, the momentum of Jakarta's five-century celebration serves as a proving ground that the capital is ready to host national and international scale sporting events.
The competition is designed to be inclusive, allowing participants from various backgrounds to join, ranging from beginners to professional athletes. The committee is offering two main categories: Aquathlon (a combination of swimming and running) open to children and adults, and Triathlon (a combination of swimming, cycling, and running) for teenagers and adults. People wishing to participate can register online through the Goers application.
