Thousands of Kupang residents packed the Bhayangkara Field of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police on Saturday (4/7/2026) to attend the series of celebrations for the 80th Bhayangkara Day. The event, entering its second day, featured a blend of local economic empowerment through an MSME bazaar and low-cost market, as well as a celebration of achievements from various competitions previously held.
The peak activity was attended directly by the Chief of NTT Police, Police Inspector General Dr. Rudi Darmoko, S.I.K., M.Si., along with main officials and the leadership of Bhayangkari NTT. In a warm atmosphere, the NTT Police leadership presented certificates of appreciation and prizes to the winners of various competitions, ranging from sports tournaments and digital creativity contests to the search for exemplary figures in the security sector.
Head of Public Relations of Polda NTT, Police Grand Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, S.I.K., M.H., explained that this series of competitions served as a means to strengthen synergy between the police force and the community. The contested competitions covered various categories, such as Exemplary Security Guard and Special Police Competitions, E-Sports, a mini-soccer tournament, to police station cleanliness competitions aimed at improving public service quality and personnel professionalism.
"This award is a form of our appreciation for the dedication and sportsmanship shown by the participants. More than just a competition, this event is a momentum to strengthen the harmonious relationship between the National Police (Polri), working partners, and all elements of society in NTT," said Police Grand Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra.
In addition to the award ceremony, visitors were also treated to MSME booths selling regional flagship products, ranging from signature culinary delights to handicrafts at affordable prices. The peak night became even livelier with cultural art performances that mesmerized thousands of attending citizens.
The police invited the public to attend again on Sunday (5/7/2026) to witness the closing night of the bazaar. The event is promised to be even more festive with additional entertainment and the main prize draw for lucky visitors, as an expression of gratitude in building a safer and more prosperous NTT.
