A strategic step towards strengthening the national connectivity backbone was officially taken by PT Indosat Tbk (IOH) through a partnership with Aryo Djojohadikusumo's Arsari Group. This collaboration has birthed a new entity named PT Infra Fiber Teknologi (IFT), projected to become an independent fiber optic infrastructure platform provider in Indonesia.
The presence of IFT is not merely an asset consolidation move, but an effort to accommodate massive-scale data demands. By positioning itself as a neutral wholesale network provider, the company is prepared to support the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystems that require high stability connectivity across both corporate and government sectors.
As initial operational capital, IFT executed the transfer of fiber optic assets owned by Indosat and its subsidiary, Lintasarta. This move grants full control over a fiber optic cable network spanning over 86,000 kilometers, encompassing submarine infrastructure, inland terrestrial backbone networks, and direct access to buildings and residential areas.
Adopting an open-access business model, the company offers three main service pillars: Submarine Fiber, Inland Terrestrial Fiber, and Fiber Access (FTTX). This initiative is expected to accelerate equitable digital access across various regions in Indonesia, including areas that currently have minimal telecommunication coverage.
In running its operations, IFT's management has established four core values: reliability, scalability, security, and partnership. Its long-term focus is to build a sustainable digital ecosystem for mobile operators, internet service providers, and data center operators to create a more integrative and efficient competitive climate in the future.
