Global food and beverage giant Danone is now focusing its long-term growth strategy in Indonesia through the integration of cutting-edge digital technology and a deep commitment to sustainability practices. As Danone's fifth-largest market in the world, Indonesia is viewed as a strategic region with dynamic growth potential amid a rapidly changing industrial landscape.

President of Asia Pacific Zone at Danone Global, Bruno Chevot, emphasized that the key to the company's success lies in human resource capacity building. Massive investments are being allocated to transform the workforce so they can adapt to modern industrial systems, where the role of conventional operators shifts to digital engineers skilled in operating technology.

On the operational side, Danone is adopting Artificial Intelligence to optimize the planning and logistics sectors. This technology enables the company to precisely map the supply chain from upstream to downstream and project fluctuations in global commodity prices, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency significantly.

In addition to digital transformation, science-based innovation also targets public health issues, specifically addressing childhood anemia. The company is preparing smartphone-based iris-scanning technology to detect iron deficiency in mothers and infants, which will be followed by research-based nutritional interventions.

On the environmental side, Danone is strengthening its circular business model through the use of returnable jugs, which now account for 70 percent of their mineral water product line. Despite the high investment costs required for lightweighting packaging and using recycled plastic (rPET), the company asserts that ecosystem sustainability remains a top priority to preserve natural resources in Indonesia.
