Public trust in political stability under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto has reportedly experienced a significant decline. The latest findings from the Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) survey institute show that as many as 42.8 percent of respondents rate the current national political condition in the bad or very bad category. This figure contrasts sharply with only 13.5 percent of respondents who still view the political condition as good.
SMRC Executive Director, Deni Irvani, explained that these results indicate a consistent downward trend in public perception. The decline in satisfaction with the political situation is believed to be closely related to the public's declining assessment of national economic performance recently. This has triggered an accumulation of negative perceptions that affect the public's view of the overall government performance.
Historically, the public's positive appreciation of national political conditions has continued to shrink in less than a year. In the November 2025 survey period, the positive assessment rate was still at 35.8 percent, before eventually dropping to 27.1 percent in March 2026. The sharpest decline was seen in the July 2026 survey, which fell to 13.5 percent.
This public opinion survey was conducted between July 5 and 19, 2026, involving 749 eligible voter respondents randomly selected from various regions in Indonesia. Data collection was carried out through a combination of telephone and face-to-face interview methods, with the research's margin of error estimated at approximately 3.7 percent.
