Renowned presenter Ruben Onsu has finally issued an official statement regarding the rumors claiming his ex-wife, Sarwendah, once visited Mount Kawi. The issue circulated widely after a video clip of an interview with a man claiming to be the gatekeeper of the sacred site went viral on social media.
Netizens' speculation grew, accusing Sarwendah of practicing mysticism or "pesugihan" (wealth rituals). Quite a few parties attempted to link this negative narrative to Ruben Onsu's health condition, which had declined in recent times.
Responding to the noisy coverage, Ruben chose to be diplomatic. He emphasized that he did not want to get involved in debates that he deemed outside the main context of his personal issues. For him, his main priority right now is resolving the legal matters concerning child custody post-divorce.
"Regarding Mount Kawi, I had no part in that. I just want to focus on child custody. I only want to comment on things relevant to that case," Ruben said in a podcast with Nanda Persada, Tuesday (7/7/2026).
On the other hand, Sarwendah's side, through her legal counsel Chris Sam Siwu, has strongly denied the pesugihan allegations. The explanation regarding Sarwendah's presence at Mount Kawi in 2021 has also been clarified; the visit was purely for professional purposes in producing horror content for "Kakak Beradik Podcast", where she appeared as a guest star at the invitation of Jordi Onsu.
Ruben also expressed his exhaustion in dealing with various issues that he considers groundless. He hopes the public will be wiser in processing information and stop continuously discussing matters that only add to the burden amidst the ongoing legal process.
