State University of Surabaya (Unesa) has officially initiated a strategic partnership with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to strengthen the research ecosystem in the field of sports. The meeting, which took place at Campus II Lidah Wetan on Saturday (4/7/2026), marks a concrete step by both institutions in integrating technology and science to support the achievements of national athletes.

Vice Rector IV of Unesa, Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, emphasized that this collaboration is not just an academic formality, but a downstream research effort to provide a real impact on sports development in Indonesia. According to him, research results must transform into applied innovations capable of addressing complex challenges in the field, rather than just becoming document collections in libraries.

Echoing this sentiment, the Head of BRIN, Arif Satria, highly appreciated Unesa's position as a center for national sports development. BRIN is fully committed to supporting this program through assistance in drafting research proposals as well as opening access to research funding schemes focused on the sustainable improvement of athlete performance.

This synergy is expected to be a catalyst for the implementation of more effective modern sport science methods. By combining Unesa's academic excellence and BRIN's research capabilities, it is hoped that innovative solutions will emerge that can elevate the prestige of Indonesian sports globally through a comprehensive data- and science-based approach.
