The Regency Government of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), South Kalimantan, remains committed to improving the quality of family health and nutrition, particularly for children. One of the strategic steps promoted is encouraging the habit of consuming fish from an early age to foster a future generation that is healthy, intelligent, and of high quality.

This was stated by the Regent of HST, Samsul Rizal, while attending the All-Fish Cooking Innovation Competition held in the Manggasang area, Hantakan District, on Wednesday (8/7). The event was organized by the HST Food Security and Fisheries Department (DKPP) in synergy with the local Family Welfare Empowerment Mobilization Team (TP PKK).

Regent Samsul Rizal expressed his hope that the various fish-based menus showcased in the competition would not merely be on display, but could be put into practice in people's home kitchens. Additionally, he hoped that this culinary innovation would motivate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to develop fish-based culinary products.

The competition was attended by TP PKK members from 11 districts across HST. The contest was divided into three main categories: special family menus, healthy food menus for toddlers, and a variety of fish-based snacks.

Echoing these sentiments, the Head of DKPP HST, Muhammad Afni Hidayat, explained that the event carries a strong educational mission that goes beyond a standard cooking competition. The activity aims to broaden public understanding of the significant nutritional benefits of fish for children's physical growth and intelligence, while also opening up creative economy opportunities through the processing of local fishery products.
