Public demands for the Pekanbaru City Government (Pemko) to review regulations concerning the operation of nightlife venues are growing stronger. The current Regional Regulation (Perda) is deemed by some groups to no longer be relevant to the dynamics and social developments in the city, known as Kota Bertuah.

Responding to these aspirations, the Pekanbaru City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) emphasized that the initiative and authority to propose revisions to the regulation lie with the executive branch. As a legislative body, the DPRD positions itself as ready to discuss regulatory changes once an official draft proposal is submitted by the Pekanbaru City Government.

The legislature stressed the importance of the local government taking active steps to immediately conduct an in-depth study on the effectiveness of the nightlife regulation. This move is deemed crucial to creating a more conducive and accommodating legal framework for public order in Pekanbaru.
