Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) witnessed the excitement of the Bhinneka Run 2026 event held on Saturday (4/7/2026). Thousands of enthusiastic participants from various backgrounds took part in the running race, which carried the mission of combining physical fitness with the preservation of the archipelago's rich cultural heritage.

Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir, together with Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports (Wamenpora) Taufik Hidayat, officially flagged off the participants, who were divided into three distance categories: 3K, 5K, and 10K. The race route was uniquely designed, leading runners past various traditional houses and cultural icons from all provinces in Indonesia within the TMII area.

The atmosphere of the race became even more festive with traditional art performances along the running route, ranging from the strains of Tanjidor and Angklung music to Tor-Tor Dance performances. This touch of diversity became the main attraction distinguishing Bhinneka Run from general running events.

One of the key points in this year's event was genuine inclusivity. Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir expressed special appreciation for the involvement of people with disabilities who took part in the competition. According to him, their participation proves that sports are an equal space for everyone without exception.

Government data shows that there are approximately 25.9 million people with disabilities in Indonesia, with 11 percent of them actively participating in sports. Responding to this, Erick emphasized the government's commitment to continuously improving the availability of disability-friendly infrastructure and facilities to support a healthy lifestyle for all people.
