Students of the 69th cohort of the Health Profession Student Community Service (KKN) at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) initiated the Bulo-Bulo Integrated Health Screening program (SEHATI BULO-BULO). This program was introduced as a concrete step to improve the early detection of hypertension and diabetes mellitus in Bulo-Bulo Village, Pujananting District, Barru Regency.
Through this flagship program, the students prioritized promotive and preventive approaches to build public awareness of the dangers of non-communicable diseases. Field activities included direct blood pressure and blood sugar level checks, as well as education on risk factors and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle for more effective early management.
In addition to the main program, the collaboration of students from five disciplines—Medical Education, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Physiotherapy—also yielded six individual work programs. These programs include SIGEMAS for children's dental health, GLOW-BESTIE for adolescent anemia prevention, DOKCIL TANGKAS for little cadres to prevent stunting, GEMAS for handwashing habits, GERAK OTOT to relieve muscle pain, and PETA HIJAU for education on family medicinal plants.
This community service plan was officially presented during the Work Program Seminar held on Sunday (19/7/2026) in Palampang Hamlet. The meeting was attended by village government officials, representatives from the Pujananting Community Health Center (Puskesmas), school authorities, integrated health post (posyandu) cadres, and local youth leaders to align the program so it runs right on target.
