Following its official listing on the Nasdaq Global Select Market through American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), South Korean semiconductor giant SK Hynix Inc. faced significant volatility challenges on its domestic exchange in Seoul.
Investors in South Korea appeared to respond quickly to global market dynamics, particularly after a mass sell-off of artificial intelligence (AI) memory stocks on Wall Street. This selling pressure temporarily pushed SK Hynix shares down by 4.7% on the Korea Exchange before the company managed to recover its position and stabilize its price movement.
This market uncertainty also impacted the overall Kospi Index. Dropping as much as 2.8% at the market open, Korea's benchmark index eventually managed to rebound by 0.6%. Meanwhile, major competitor Samsung Electronics Co. demonstrated positive performance with a stock rise of 4.3% amid shifting market sentiment.
