The Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) of Bogor Regency successfully organized the 2026 Bogor Regency Level Traditional Sports Invitation competition. Held over two days on July 21–22, 2026, at the PASI Field of Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, this event served as a selection stage for talented young athletes to advance to the West Java Province level this coming October.
This annual event was attended by 912 elementary school (SD) students from various sub-districts in the Bogor Regency area. There were five traditional sports categories contested in this competition: dagongan (bamboo push), egrang (stilts), hadang (traditional block game), sumpitan (blowpipe), and tarompah panjang (long wooden clogs). The competition was fierce while still upholding sportsmanship among the participants.
In the final standings, Leuwiliang District dominated by securing two first-place titles in the dagongan and tarompah panjang categories. Meanwhile, the first-place title in the egrang sport was won by Citeureup District, the hadang category was won by Cibinong District, and Ciomas District emerged as the best in the sumpitan discipline.
The Secretary of Bogor Regency Dispora, Riza Juangsah Rahmat, explained that the essence of this activity goes beyond just competing for trophies. According to him, this event is part of the local government's commitment to preserve and protect the archipelago's cultural heritage amidst the tide of modernization. Introducing traditional sports at an early age is expected to build positive character, teamwork, and sportsmanship in children.
Riza also advised the podium finishers to immediately prepare themselves intensively. The achievements gained at the regency level must serve as valuable capital to compete for the championship title at the West Java Province level, which will be held in October 2026.
Echoing this sentiment, the Head of the Traditional Sports and Special Services Team of Bogor Regency Dispora, Dedi Supriadi, emphasized the importance of sustainable training for young athletes. This step is considered strategic not only to maintain the existence of traditional games but also to nurture a generation of athletes ready to compete at a higher level.
