The Pertamina Zone 4 table tennis team officially claimed the championship title after overcoming hosts Pertamina RU III at the 2026 Oil & Gas Sports Week. The final match, held at the Pertamina RU III Badminton Hall in Palembang on Saturday (11/7/2026), ended with a 2-0 victory for the Zone 4 team.
Pertamina Zone 4's dominance was evident from the first match, with the pair of Darwin and Junaidi overcoming the duo of Irfan and Dedy in a fierce five-set battle: 11-9, 8-11, 12-10, 8-11, and 11-9. The momentum continued into the second match, where Hendra and Sony delivered an impressive performance by defeating the pair of Dicky and Diansyah Putri in straight sets, 3-0.
Pertamina Zone 4's journey to the top of the podium was relatively smooth, having secured their spot in the final after defeating PHE Jambi Merang 2-0 in the semifinals. Meanwhile, host team Pertamina RU III reached the final after a hard-fought match against Medco SSR, which ended with a score of 2-1.
In the third-place match, Medco SSR successfully secured the bronze medal after defeating PHE Jambi Merang with a 2-1 victory. This result concluded the table tennis tournament, which featured participation from over a dozen oil and gas companies across Southern Sumatra.
Sony, one of the athletes from the Pertamina Zone 4 team, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the team's achievement. This victory stands as a testament to the players' dedication amidst the fierce competition throughout the 2026 Oil & Gas Sports Week.
