Indonesia's leading financial technology company, Flip, has officially launched its latest innovation named Flip Kasir. This initiative is specifically designed to facilitate merchant needs in managing offline payments more quickly, reliably, and in an integrated manner, alongside the increasingly massive dynamics of digital transactions in the country.
In presenting this solution, Flip has entered into a strategic partnership with Paytm, one of India's largest payment industry players. The Soundbox technology brought by Paytm is integrated into Flip's services, making it easier for merchants to receive real-time payment confirmations. This is expected to reduce reliance on manual checks, making customer service more efficient.
This collaborative step also reflects the strengthening of bilateral relations between Indonesia and India in the digital economy sector. The momentum of this cooperation aligns with discussions between the two countries regarding the integration of payment infrastructure, including plans to synchronize Indonesia's QRIS system with India's UPI system, which is seen as a way to expand economic reach for business actors, both domestic and foreign tourists.
Flip's CEO and Co-Founder, Rafi Putra Arriyan, emphasized that amidst the rapid growth of QRIS, which has reached tens of millions of merchants, efficiency is the main key for MSME players. This innovation, which is currently being trialed with selected partners, is expected to become a sturdier foundation for business growth across various business scales, from grocery stores to retail franchise outlets.
Meanwhile, Founding Managing Partner of Insignia Ventures Partners, Yinglan Tan, views this cross-border synergy positively. According to him, Paytm's trust in Flip's ecosystem proves that Indonesia is increasingly considered a strategic market for global financial technology, while also showing Flip's capability in adopting international technology to target local challenges accurately.
